Oh, there is a sweet, sweet man out in Bloggy Land.
Instead of the "typical American Christmas - gizmos, gadgets, whatnots, and an oversized helping of turkey," this man and his wife and extended family will be making gifts for one another this season. Then, they'll donate the money they would have spent on gifts back to a small village they visited last year in a not-as-fortunate part of the world.
So what is this sweet, sweet man making as a gift for his wife? A book of open letters from mothers to mothers. And you can be part of the Mother Letter Project.
This really tugs at my heart, I've got to do it!

Thank you so much. I will put you in the blog lines this afternoon.
Wonderful! I'll blog about this right now.
Very awesome! We have a "santa" in my area that gives our 100.00 bills to perfect strangers every year. He is dressed as santa and won't let anyone know who he is. I am blown away by some people.
Aaaahhh, this is so sweet!
Just went to read about the event. What a wonderful idea! These are the things that truly remind me of what the holiday season is about.
thanks for telling us about this! what a wonderful thing!
That is incredible. I saw this somewhere else and it made me cry just a bit. This is was Christmas is about.
I'd much rather get something amazing like this wife will than some gift from wal-mart!
