Do you remember
this photo from many months ago? One of these precious embryos has grown into the beautiful little boy you see above. My heart still swells with this miracle every single time I think about it. A very big blessing from God in a very tiny package...
I can't wait to see his face. Will he look like Evie? She was such a miniature version of Chris when she was born. Will this little one look more like me? And what will his personality be like? Will he be laid-back, the opposite of his big sister?
With less than nine weeks until my due date, we have a lot to do. The new "nursery" is still our guest bedroom/junk room. The carpet guys are coming to measure this Saturday, then we need to paint, decorate, and put up the crib. We'll have to replace some of our "pink" baby essentials. We have to stock up on diapers. We need to take a trip to Babies 'R Us to remember all the "must haves" for infants. We have to buy a crib mattress. I should look up refresher information in the books about labor and delivery and breastfeeding.
But most of the time, I'm dreaming. Dreaming about what it will be like to have a new baby in the house again. Dreaming about his soft skin and the smell of his hair. Dreaming about watching my first miracle baby grow into a big sister. About chubby little thighs and half-sleeping cuddles while nursing him in the middle of the night. About singing lullabies and dressing him in BOY CLOTHES and watching him sleep in my arms.
Don't wake me...

Wonderful! I'll be presumptuous and speak for everyone to say that I (we) are all dying to see those chubby thighs, too. I can't wait to learn his name and to see how happy you are.
When Iain was born, someone told me that newborns often look a lot like Dad. It's supposedly an evolutionary mechanism designed to get fathers to bond with and thus support the new baby. So even if Mr. Cutie comes out looking like your husband, he might look more like you later on. That certainly happened with Iain, who looks a lot like me, now.
oh how exciting! and i do love that sweet baby smell...it will be hard to "kick" gibson out of our bed when the time comes.
oh I am so excited for yall!!!!!!
We only have two bedrooms so we didn't get to do a pink bedroom. :( but we are trying to think of ideas for when she moves in with Sweet Pea. Its a sports room right now...which according to charles is totally fine for a boy and a girl. lol i disagree
Fiona - I *think* we know the name, but I don't want to announce it to the world yet, just in case we change our minds! If you wanna know it, email me!
Precious!
You know, I'm not your stalker or anything, but I was thinking this very morning that you had not done many baby updates. I'm glad to hear that everything is going smoothly! He's going to be precious no matter who he looks like -- and he's already such a blessing!
You have such a way with words...simply beautiful...
Hard to believe less than 9 weeks away - yay! hes' so cute!
You're getting SO VERY CLOSE to seeing him for the first time. I've never had a daughter, so I can't obviously relate to that... but a boy... oh how a boy will melt your heart!
